Q. How can I speak with some of the existing residents about their experiences living in the village?
A. There are often many residents that are happy to tell you about their lifestyle in the best stage of their life. If you ask the Village Manager, he or she maybe able to arrange for you to meet with members of the village.
Q. Will the lifestyle of the village such as social activities suit me?
A. Although many of the existing residents enjoy a very active social environment, there are no obligations for anyone to feel they have to join in. All residents' privacy is respected and attendance or involvement in events and functions is totally at your discretion.
Community Centre – Lounge
Q. Are there any restrictions on the time spent in the Lounge?
A. The Lounge area is for many a wonderful place to sit and chat with neighbours, friends and family. Each individual village has a set of Resident Rules and they will outline any restrictions on access or use of the Lounge.
Q. Can my family and friends spend time in the Lounge area?
A. The Lounge is designed to be a meeting area for the village community and this includes residents and their guests. Once again, please check the Resident Rules to see if there any specific criteria that relate to family and friends using this area.
Community Centre – Dining
Q. Am I able to invite my family and friends to dine with me?
A. Each individual village will operate their dining facilities according to their requirements and they will outline any restrictions on access or use of the Dining Room. Please check with the Village Manager or Sales Consultant on this particular service.
Q. Will I be able to order a meal to be delivered to my residence?
A. Once again, the ability of the individual village to provide this service will be at its discretion and the range of facilities it has. However, most villages work hard to meet the requests of their residents, where practicable. Please check with the Village Manager or Sales Consultant on this particular service.
Community Centre – Sports Bars
Q. Do they have teams or are we able to create a team within the village?
A. All retirement villages develop and provide these spaces for the enjoyment and interaction of their residents. For example, it is very common for there to be more than one team of 'Pool Players' in a village who have mini tournaments, sometimes within the village and also cross-competition with other villages.
Q. Are there any restrictions on the time spent in the Bar?
A. The Bar is often a wonderful place to share with neighbours, friends and family. Each individual village has a set of Resident Rules and they will outline any restrictions on access or use of the Bar.
Community Centre – Cinemas
Q. Are there any restrictions on access to the Cinema?
A. All retirement villages develop and provide these spaces for the enjoyment and interaction of their residents. Each individual village has a set of Resident Rules and they will outline any restrictions on access or use of the Cinema.
Q. Can we invite our family and friends in to see a Movie?
A. As the facilities offered within a village are for the comfort and enjoyment of the residents, sharing these with your family and friends is an opportunity to show them wonderful benefits of your new lifestyle. Obviously as you are sharing with the rest of the village you will have to book and reserve the area for your use. Each individual village has a set of Resident Rules and they will outline any restrictions on access or use of the Cinema.
Q. Will we be able to watch our own movies and use the Village equipment?
A. The facilities are designed for the use of all residents however there may be specific training and or rules to abide by with using your own DVD's etc. Ask the Sales Consultant or Village Manager about the criteria within the village of your choice.
Community Centre – Gym/Fitness Centre
Q. Are there any restrictions on the time spent in the Gym?
A. The Gym is a great area for you to maintain your health and fitness however, there will be specific health and safety requirements for the use of the Gym and its equipment. You may be required to provide a health certificate from your doctor and/or sign a waiver to say that you accept responsibility for your own safety and well being while using the Gym. Each individual village will have Gym/Fitness Centre Rules and they will outline any restrictions on access or use of the facility.
Q. Will there be a Fitness Instructor?
A. It may well be that the village offers this service on a 'user pays' system. Alternatively, you may be able to provide your own Personal Trainer and use the facilities of the gym. Please check with the village to see what is allowed within the village of your choice.
Q. Who pays for the cost of maintaining the Gym equipment?
A. The Gym forms part of the overall community facilities offered to all residents of a village and therefore the operating and equipment maintenance costs are shared over all the residences/units within a village. These costs will be included in your weekly service fee.
Q. I won't ever use the Gym so why should I pay for the cost of it?
A. The choice to use or not use the Gym is an individual decision however, you will still be required to contribute to the running costs whether you use it or not. The equipment provided will be designed for seniors and will therefore offer great health and fitness benefits for all residents. You may find if you 'buddy-up' with one of your new neighbours another world opens up for you.
Community Centre – Pool
Q. Who pays for the cost of operating the pool?
A. The swimming pool is a facility offered to all residents of a village and therefore the operating costs are shared over all the residences/units within a village. These costs will be included in your weekly service fee.
Q. I won't ever use the swimming pool so why should I pay for the cost of it?
A. As the pool is one of the facilities offered by a village all residents have the opportunity to make use of this recreational facility. The choice to use or not use the pool is an individual decision however, you will still be required to contribute to the running costs whether you use it or not.
