National Professional Development Program
The RVA recognises its role to supply quality educational services to its members, and offers a variety of professional development services to all levels of staff employed in the industry.
The RVA professional development programme includes specific industry-related courses and a range of seminars, workshops and other educational activities to support quality management and operation of villages.
Increasing the level of expertise through ongoing professional development of all retirement living professionals will benefit the industry by:
- Improving the retirement village industry's ability to meet the demands of a constantly changing marketplace.
- Enhancing the perception of the importance and value of the retirement village industry held by residents, Government, stakeholders, industry and the public in general.
- Aligning village operators with workplace trends where there has been an increased emphasis on qualifications and ongoing learning.

Bloomers - The Art of Selling Retirement Living
A purpose built, hands on sales training program for the retirement village industry.

Do you have units that are proving difficult to sell? Did you know that the approximate holding cost of having a single vacant $400,000 ILU is approximately $100 per day? Five vacant ILU’s for a month represents a holding cost of around $15,000. For the cost of ten holding days on the market, you or your sales staff can attend Bloomers – The Art of Selling Retirement Living. has been postponed to early 2011 due to lack of numbers.

This course is designed to fully prepare Village Managers to complete an effective application
for accreditation. There are plenty of positions available on all courses.

If you are a Village Manager and have been apprehensive about your village applying for
accreditation, this course will assist you to overcome those fears and the confidence that your
application will contain everything you need.
Accreditation Training
IMG and the RVA are delighted to announce a new range of training courses on Accreditation in 2010 to coincide with the completion of the 2009 ARVA Scheme Review and launch of the new Handbook . The three courses are designed to assist you to understand the why and how of the ARVA scheme. No matter where your interest lies in Retirement Living, there is a course for you.
All courses incorporate practical tools and strategies led by a facilitator experienced in the ARVA scheme. Courses are held within a village setting to facilitate live experiences. Each participant will be provided with comprehensive training materials, templates and sample documents. Updated training dates are advised above.
